The Food Pyramid of a 5-Year Old

Carter has been eating one meal a week in the cafeteria at school. This was what was on the menu last Friday for him to pick from:

Entree:
Nachos with Meat & Cheese
Nachos with Cheese
Fish on a Bun with/without Coleslaw
Chef Salad

Sides:
Refried or Pinto Beans
Corn
Mashed Potatoes
Fresh Pear
Peaches
Shredded Lettuce with Diced Tomatoes
Celery Sticks & Carobites
Trail Mix
Tossed Salad
Congealed Fruit

My son, who when I pack his lunch sometimes gets TWO vegetables, selected the items in red and washed them all down with an ice cold chocolate milk.

Another $1.75 well spent.

  1. gotta love school lunches..and I hate to admit on some days when I didnt get my act together in the mornings, my only choice was school lunch, so my meals were similar to Carters..except I had to pay 2.50!!

  2. Gotta love a good cafeteria meal. They should employ Mr. Dickens to implement tray checks to be sure the kids take a little of everything and must eat it ALL before they can play. Aaaah, Tichie days!

  3. I was searching online to try to find out what a carobite is. (It's on my son's school lunch menu frequently.) I was surprised to stumble across your site -- I recognize Peyton & Carter from volunteering in Jumpstart.
